flashback friday: just say no to leopard print

Danny and I heading to the Jersey Shore for a wedding.... I think we might just bring this look back...

yes. that's my husband in juniors leopard [cheetah?] print pants circa 2000.
clearly, I've eaten lots of cheeseburgers in the past ten years!
now... time for the dirty jerzzz [FISTPUMP]
I was considering trying to find a top like that to wear but alas... no luck.

man-shopping

I love to shop and have a problem. I'm a shop-a-holic. I currently really don't need too much, however, my adorable husband who still wears clothes from high school [that I remember him wearing mind you] needs a few things here and there so when I dragged him to the mall this weekend we picked up a few things for him!

First, I gave in and we got one of these ---

...it's fitting in nicely in our kitchen and has upped our tea-drinkage which is awesome. It also helps to have nice cold water after a run.... then I read the reviews and got a little nervous...oops maybe we should have researched before we bought!? I'll keep you posted on how our little B&D energystar friend works out... I mean I still think we could have gotten a brita - but marriage is compromise so HOORAY WATER COOLER - welcome home
[love you dj]

also, we got my main squeeze some sweet raybans [polarized so his vision doesn't get worse]

some manshoes... can you believe these are crocs?!
we also got DJ a cute buttondown plaid shirt and super soft lightweight hoodie, which I can't find online to share, but they were from XXI and super super cute...

we're heading to the dirrrrty jerz [fistpump] for a wedding this weekend, maybe we'll be doing a little hita-shopping then. :)

my sweet bully boy [black & white wednesday]

I swear, Oliver just gets cuter by the day and just as sweet as ever... he is my sweet baby boy... how could you not love that mug?

Check out more black and white photography at The Long Road to China....

the long road

21 books down...

...79 to go...
in only 4 months... eeeh, oh well - you never know! :)

So I've read two more books... which were quite different from each other, on other ends of the spectrum you might say....

20. The Dead Lie Down
The Dead Lie Down: A NovelThe Dead Lie Down by Sophie Hannah was definitely a dark novel... it took me a little while to get into it, but once I did - I was hooked. I swear I was on edge the last 50 pages of the book just reading as fast as I could so that I could get through it and see what was happening - were my hunches correct [they were] and how on earth was this going to be wrapped up? If you're in the mood for a dark novel with a slow start then this is your ticket - I'd give it 3.5 out of the 5... not great, not bad.

21. Pretty Little Liars
Pretty Little Liars Box Set: Books 1 to 4Don't judge me. It was good. Also, I was aided by an enabler [I love you Sarah]. Let's just put it this way... I have ordered the rest of the series.... Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard was a quick read [few hours] and a guilty little pleasure.... I can't wait to read the rest of the series... I'm proud of my tween-wanna-be status. I just wish they had these at the library [not a selection I think I want forever] but just want to read quickly and move on... though now I can mail them on to Lindi when I'm finished so that she can enjoy them as well! :)

simple silver staple...

I'm on the hunt for a simple silver necklace... I love them and I feel they're such a great daily piece... I used to rock the T&Co Elsa Perrati starfish but it got stolen {awesome} out of a friends car... then I had a simple dogeared small lightening bolt that DJ flushed down the toilet {on accident, supposedly, he didn't like the girl that gave it to me, so I think it might just have been on purpose.... juuust kiddng} - so now I'm looking for new "staple" everyday silver necklace....

I'd love this T&Co Elsa Perrati"a" but $225 isn't in the budget right now...

So I took a look around Etsy and found some great options, including...

I think I'll mull over it for awhile... but who knows, my new "staple" could be in this post...

here fishy fishy....

So DJ and I are getting married [again] on New Years and we're trying to think of some inexpensive creative centerpieces... I think we're going to go with goldfish/fish - afterall goldfish are a symbol of good luck in many cultures for New Years so I think it could be a cool tie-in....

well my fishies, what are your thoughts?

bad hita.

bad hita, BAD.

Oliver should be yelling at me like I yell at him... today = bad hita.

I haven't been feeling too hot so I haven't worked out in the past three days... then today, I did a bad thing.

mmmmm....

mmmmmmcdonalds.

barf. yum.

you can judge me but every now and then like lazy rainy days like today.... I love some grade-d meat with french fries sprinkled with crack.

two cheeseburgers + medium fries = fatty hita heaven

it was amazing, but at the same time.... I don't really love this filmy taste in my mouth. I feel like I just had a fling with a guy that ended up being a total douche in the end.

I wish...

...I was sleeping like this right now...
or at least cuddled up to this guy instead of in my office at work...

love my little oinker.

daaaate night

DJ and I have been trying to be more proactive about spending "quality" time together and we have had some fun date nights over the past few weeks [and again, I've been slack about sharing] so here are two fun nights we had.

First up around two weeks ago we went to the Batting Cages and ate some amaaazing junk food [okay DJ was the only one that swung a bat out of the two of us... I just enjoyed some deep friend goodness... mmm onion rings] at the "Snack Shack" - yes, in coordinated outfits, not on purpose, but whatever... [and yes I realize I don't really match... that sweater was too comfy to care and it got chilly real quick]
Pretend that we don't have red-eye... I'm too lazy to fix it [don't judge me, it happens to the best of us]

then last week we went out to a nice sushi dinner at this great restaurant in downtown Great Barrington Bizen... again, I didn't take pictures of the food, but I did snap two quick photos with my iphone...

sake = yum

and my salad plate... is that? seriously? Alright, it's probably a japanese maple leaf but I've been watching too much weeds and I swear...

...then we came home and had a family photoshoot to capture our cuteness... gotta love self-timers, and of course, Oliver wanted to join in the fun!

I'm so lucky to have such an amazing husband... we truly have a great life together. I love him and how thoughtful he is to make sure we get to have special and fun times together.

Tonight we're having another couple over to our house and having a mexican fondue night [wish me lucky that I don't burn down the house.... or the chocolate!] - yum yum, off to look up recipes! :)

Ollie the Movie Star

I uploaded a bunch of Oliver's videos on youtube awhile back and then completely forgot to post them on the blog - then DJ and I were watching some on my iphone last night and it reminded me of them... check them out here.

Here are a two of my favs when from the first few weeks we had him when he first tackled the stairs to get into our house... he was so freaking little! AH!

personal space.....

Oliver does NOT believe in it...

that's why he's our favorite 50 pound lapdog...

zucchini festival!

so this past weekend was the long-awaited [in the Berkshires at least] West Stockbridge Zucchini Festival... DJ and I open and closed the festival down [we went home and napped in between]. The festival was tons of fun including a pet-parade... which unfortunately due to lazy parents and his large and in charge stature [he wouldn't fit into his costume and we forgot to set an alarm and got there like 15 minutes too late to register him] Oliver was not in... but he made a parade of his own as everyone was gushing over him as we walked him around...

I wish I had taken pictures of the food [OH THE FOOD] - I mean, come on, clearly the best part of any festival was the food but I was too busy stuffing my face to take any pictures of anything we ate.

What's that? What did we eat? The better question would be what DIDN'T we eat... we opened the zucchini fries booth [ate two servings that day], cotton candy, two different types of egg/spring rolls [no, don't think they had zucchini in them but they were damn good], and then closed the zucchini fries station and bought their last fried dough [for a $1 heck yes]... needless to say I went for a long run on Sunday to burn off some of that zucchini goodness!

Anyways here are some pictures of our fun zucchini saturday....

DJ in his "official" zucchini festival sunglasses [yes, we're those people]

heey zucchini dog....

some BIG zucchinis....

big zucchini baby....

our big ole zucchini...

zucchini centerpieces...

zucchini-hippie-hula-hoop-dancers [?? welcome to the berkshires...] I can't decide who's my favorite lime-green-tank-no-bras-allowed or grandma-white-pants-red-heels-get-it-girl....

what do you think? [other than I'm an ass, haha]

dressed up zucchinis...

with zucchini [not really but I can pretend] hot air balloons....

[it was so cool to see this hot air balloon up close and personal]

with some zucchini lovers...

on a beautiful night in a truly beautiful place...

there were also fireworks that night which were zucch-a-refic but we were in the car and it was chilly and I was to lazy to get out and take pictures at that point... hope you enjoyed that zucch-recap! I'm off to daydream about fried dough and cotton candy....
