So DJ and I are getting married [again] on New Years and we're trying to think of some inexpensive creative centerpieces... I think we're going to go with goldfish/fish - afterall goldfish are a symbol of good luck in many cultures for New Years so I think it could be a cool tie-in....
Thats a great idea. I did that for my sisters wedding... We used some type of blue fish.
Her wedding theme was a lot of different blues so it worked well. We did these really inexpensive (most of our supplies were from the 99 cents store or Michaels. We got medium sized glass bowls and blue rocks and sea glass.
A little piece of advice for whoever is transporting those. It is SUPER hard lol. Good luck with that. Makes for awesome centerpieces and favors. Everyone was fighting over who could take the fish home
We had goldfish for the centerpieces at prom one year. I remember fighting the prom board about it though because I didn't think the boys in our school were mature enough to handle it. I was afraid they would torture them somehow. They didn't.
My GF did this at her wedding and it ended up a disaster for our poor fishy friends. She used fighting fish and of course the immature boys (over 30 boys) had to put them in the same bowls and let them fight to the death!
But us girls rescued most of them and gave them to the kids to take home as their new pets - which all the kids LOVED! So in the end it all worked out! ;-)
haha - don't worry everyone we will make sure the fish are treated humanely... I'll have someone be on drunk-guy-who-thinks-its-a-good-idea-to-fight-fish duty
we eloped on new years day this past year so we're doing a ceremony/party with our family and friends on our one year anniversary!
Oh how cool. That's a great idea! I think the Betta's would make a lovely centerpiece. How creative!

I seen a friend do this too.. but it looked kind of tacky the way she had it done!
ReplyDeleteI like the one with the square vase, and the gerber daisy. That was incredibly cute!
I bet it'll look fabulous no matter what you choose!
