what I'm loving wednesday...

happy wednesday! can you believe the week is halfway over already? I cannot, I'm way swamped with packing, cleaning and saying goodbyes....

here's what I'm loving this wednesday...

I'm loving... that it's my LAST DAY AT WORK!!! [yes, I'm unemployed tomorrow, but in all honesty - that sounds so much better than ever coming back here] See... my office is all cleaned out!

I'm loving... that my baby boy is starting to feel better - he jumped into my trunk all by himself when I was packing the car with stuff for goodwill

I'm loving... that this time next week I'll be in Georgia!

I'm loving... that the jobsearch is starting to pickup - I have a phone interview on friday - and interview on Monday and I just got a voicemail about scheduling another interview next week [YESSSS - send me smart, fun, and hire-me vibes]

I'm loving... that one of my besties Sarah just started a blog - check it out, she's awesome!

alright, I'm off to have one last lunch with my coworkers - hope y'all have a great week - could be a little while before I post again - next time you hear from me I'll be back in the south - get excited! :)

bedside manners...

do you have a side of the bed? for as long as I can remember I've slept on the right side of the bed... I'm typically not a sprawl out in the middle of the bed when I'm alone person either - I always sleep on my side [unless one too many cocktails is involved, then who knows]. When I was single, when DJ was out of town, when I was at hotels alone traveling for work - I always slept on the right side of the bed.

this shouldn't be an issue right.. except... well, my sweet, sweet DJ likes the right side of the bed too. what's a girl to do? I mean, I really like the right side of the bed but I don't want to just take it.

I wonder too if it's a control thing - I like being by the nightstand. I like being able to grab my phone if I need to. Right now we only have one nightstand and one electrical outlet by the bed -- on the right side.  So I think we need two in our next setup and then I could consider being on the left side.... maybe.

I've been sleeping on the left side for the past few days [just to be a nice wife] and I guess it's alright - I mean what makes a side of the bed any better or different? why do I think I like the right so much more?? the left doesn't feel wrong, it just doesn't feel right [get it, right]....

Maybe in Atlanta I'll become a left-side of the bed person.... I also think about how lucky I am that for the past year my husband has sucked it up and slept on the "wrong side" of the bed with very minimal complaining so maybe it's my year to try something new [not someone new, don't worry DJ ;)].

do you have a side of the bed? does it feel weird to not sleep on it? is it just me??

handwritten....

happy thursday! kristin over at little lady tagged me in a "handwritten meme" - which is exciting to me because I enjoy writing. I love writing to-do lists, handwritten cards, letters (which I've been slack on lately due to - well, life), etc. I am also an avid doodler (which you'll also soon see). I like my handwriting too, it's evolved over the past decade or so but I feel that it'll be pretty similar to what it is now for the rest of my life...  so here goes...

 Instructions:
Answer the following questions in written format:

1. What's your name/your Blogger name?
2. What's your blog's name/URL?
3. Write "the quick fox jumps over the lazy dog".
4. Favorite quote?
5. Your Favorite song?
6. Your favorite band/singers?
7. Anything else you want to say?
8. Tag 3-5 other people.

in other news, I started packing the kitchen up yesterday... we're getting there (slowly) - baby steps. my in-laws will be here in a week and then we pack up the pods so it is time to get to work! it's nice though, we're definitely cleaning house and getting rid of a lot of old stuff that we both just held onto. I'm excited to start fresh. now I just need to get a great job so I can replace all of these old clothes I'm getting rid of. ;)

I'm loving...the flowers my love brought home for me on Monday that are blooming beautifully...

I'm loving...our dear friends jeff & janis [our berkshire parents] gave us our belated wedding gift a week or so ago and it was a bottle of wine for the next year [that they picked out themselves - they're big wine buffs] - we had the first one on Monday and it was amazing! can't wait for it to be March so we can try the next bottle!! :)

I'm loving...cleaning out my hulu que...

I'm loving...working from home with my sweet pup today [he got snipped yesterday, so he's recouping]...

typical...

these photos represent the new "typical" in our household....
husband, iPhone, dog - and no room for hita.... I live with some serious bed-hogs...

and couch hogs...

and someone has a major foot fetish.... [ahem Ollie]...

but then again, you can do what you want when you're America's Next Top Bulldog Model...

I can't complain, I love my boys - they're the best around...
I know, they're adorable. I love them.

In other news, I got my first interview request! It's for a part-time Academic Advisor position at a local community college, but they wanted me to come in for an interview this week... we're in talks to see if they can do it via phone so we'll see. It's promising to get some positive feedback though considering as of today I've applied for 50 jobs... I know, I'm a machine!

Oh I also got these today....

bubbling over.

the packing has BEGUN!

I'm bubbling over with excitement [and anxiety] about our upcoming move - the excitement definitely trumps the worries, but I am just a mix of fun emotions right now!

I'm so excited about being a drive away from friends rather than a plane ride - being closer to my mom, and SUPER close to all of DJ's family. I'm excited about a new job (a tad stressed about the process of getting there, but I know I will). I'm so proud of DJ for following his heart and passion and so excited to watch his dreams become a reality. I've emailed the local ZTA Alum chapters and I can't wait to get involved with those and get reconnected to ZTA. I'm SO excited about being near a Publix again [aka the world's BEST grocery store chain]. I'm excited to clean house and get rid of a lot of clutter and unneed belongings.

It's going to be interesting living with our inlaws for the next year - but I'm so humbled and thankful that they're willing to take us in and help us out.  Get ready, the basement blogger is coming soon to a laptop or desktop near you!  Money is going to be tight for awhile, we have a fair amount saved up but we need to get jobs (at least temporary ones) as soon as we get down there (if anything just for my sanity). I'm not so psyched about living out of storage for the next year and being without my "things" but in reality, it'll be just fine. The job search has been uneventful so far but I was reading my friend Christina's blog today and I saw this quote in one of her older posts...

"The world bursts at the seams with people ready to tell you you're not good enough. On occasion, some may be correct. But do not do their work for them. Seek any job; ask anyone out; pursue any goal. Don't take it personally when they say 'no' - they may not be smart enough to say 'yes.'" - Keith Olbermann

so that's where I am right now, waiting for someone to say yes. I've applied to 47 jobs (and only gotten 6 "no thanks" so far) - and I'm going to keep on applying. I've seen some interesting jobs that I can't wait to share with you - but for now, back to work [only 12 more days here!]

c-c-c-c-haaanges

guess who gave three weeks notice to quit her job yesterday?
this gal. [and her husband]

guess who doesn't have a job yet?
this gal. [and her husband]

it's official. DJ and I are heading south.

{via}

our lease ends at the end of the month and we were debating what to do and we realized that if we're going to move, now is the time to do it. So, we're moving to Georgia! I really do love the berkshires [sometimes] and will miss [some of] the people but we really want to be closer to our family. so we're going to be real close [all of DJ's immediate family now lives in the Atlanta area].  What better time than now? We don't own property, we don't have kids [just a baby bullie].

So, we're packing up a uhaul in 24 days and heading to GA. we're going to get a storage unit and live in his parents basement for awhile [that's right, you read right - I'm that cool, don't be jealous]. In all honesty, I'm excited.  I love his parents, I love free rent, and I'm excited at the idea of new opportunities. I've applied for 27 jobs so far [and only been rejected by 2 - clearly they were idiots]. DJ is going to do graphic design - which he is amazing at, he's going to start up his own firm on the side and work towards getting a job with a firm/company too. I'm so proud of him for following his heart/dreams.

As for me - I don't know what I'm going to do - I'm applying for everything and almost anything; some jobs in higher ed, some in events, some in retail.... at this point, I still just don't know what I want to be when I grow up. Sometimes I'm okay with that, sometimes I'm not - hopefully this job search will help me figure it out.

With that I'm off to scour the internet for jobs and let the creative juices flow on another project that just maybe up my sleeve - get excited!
