election day.

hope you've gotten out there and voted! DJ, Sweet Penny and I battled the weather and the lines and hit the polls this morning.

this time of year is always exciting - and it's crazy to think this is the first election in 12 years that I won't be spending the evening watching the results roll in on a college campus (2000: freshman year of college, 2004: grad school, 2008: residence coordinator). It's a bit bittersweet to not be spending this evening with college students... but hey, I'm also VERY okay with watching the results roll-in in my sweats, drinking beer with my husband. here's to an interesting night. hope your guy wins - but only if he's my guy, duh.

falling into fall friday's fancies...

I'm so ready for fall to be here - the leaves need to change color ASAP and I need some mini pumpkin pies in my life!  oh well, maybe next week. for now, I'm ready for this work day to be over and to be en route to Knoxville. Yeehaw. In honor of fall [and UT] here is my falling into fall friday's fancies... pop of color [orange!] and lots of camel and gold = fall to me. enjoy!

friday's fancies... back to school...

back to school time already - can you believe it? I feel like I was just saying "August already?!" and now come Monday classes will start again at the college I work at and August will be flying by... oh Fall, you're back old friend.

I love back to school time. So much fun, excitement, shopping, starting fresh - oh yes, and a wardrobe refresher + new school supplies [this girl here, obsessed with post-it notes].  Fortunately for me, I get my office supplies ordered for me via staples.com... unfortunately for me, I don't get to dreamily wander around Target picking out sharpies, sticky notes and dividers galore.  anyways, tangent over  - you get it, I love a good red stapler.

Back to fashion, or my lack there of... I'm lucky enough to work with relaxed faculty members where it's a good day where pants are worn versus flip flops and khaki shorts [for them, not me] but I do try and dress nice like a grown-up [when I don't hit snooze 100 times].  I can't lie though, I do long for the days where I could roll out of bed throw my hair up in a messy bun [who are we kidding, I still do that] and throw on jeans and a tank, grab a hoodie and make a run for it while putting on lipgloss as I walk to class... so instead of doing a "fancy" fancies today with fun work clothes that I can wear during this back-to-school season as a grown-up, I'm going back to the essentials. casual, comfy, and overpriced. duh.
friday fancies - casual & neutral

1. BDG striped tunic - nice and loose so you can enjoy the froyo at the dining hall
2. wayfarers - classic and timeless [I can't wait until my husband buys me a pair for being awesome, cough cough]
3. beige slouchy cardigan - cozy and comfy for cold classrooms
4. mixed chain multi row - so you have something to play with in class when you get bored
5. rainbows - you know florida girls love them some flippy-floppies
6. nadri crystal bangles - for a little extra jingle jangle
7. chanel le vernis nail polish - neutral and fun
8. dark blue not skinny jean shorts - hey gators, just for you - some jorts!
9. gold wire ball studs - simple and classic

check out everyone else's fancies over at long distance loving...

...and because a post wouldn't be complete without talking about how adorable my husband is and how ridiculous we are, here's a friday flashback for you [whoa, double whammy] from our freshman year of college...  home from college and on NYE after one too many, we decided to rekindle our senior year of high school love as the clock struck twelve... make-out-city: population two. funny to think we got married almost nine years later to the day. there was lots of kissing on that day too. :)
look at those baby faces?!
yup, a decade later... I still love him.
excited for a fun weekend of 5Ks, hiking and relaxing with my lovie!
[I know, I just used 5K and hiking and exciting in the same sentence... what is happening to me]
oh yeah, one last thing....
happy birthday whitney!
[head over to whit's blog and say happy birthday to her!]

tolstoy would be proud & more madness...

we were a pretty hot War & Peace....
(that yoda is pretty cute too, I know.... Oh Oliver)

here are some more pictures of our halloween weekend...

seriously, halloween party at a country club... who would ever think it's appropriate to stand on a table to watch the thriller dancers?? oh yeah, my husband!

and then there was this special gem... yup, she was serious - and clearly didn't notice DJ was being an ass

look closely, yup, that's a nip....

the next day (Halloween) we carved pumpkins...

aren't they cute??

and the boys made a "special" one... which then made it's rounds around Great Barrington

yup. we're a classy bunch.

all in all, it was a great weekend. my best friend (and MOH) Lindi was in town and we had a blast over the weekend and then I took Monday and Tuesday off and we did wedding planning.... we got TONS done - it was so amazing to have her here!

On Monday we spent 5 hours putting all the wedding invitations together, stuffing envelopes, writing/stamping, etc... and I can proudly say we mailed them out! YAY wedding invitations done (I need to get the file from DJ and then I'll upload them for all to see). Also, while doing invitations we had an amazing movie marathon (She's the Man, What a Girl Wants, Mean Girls and Mary Poppins... does it get any better than that??).

Tuesday we went to the rentals place and picked out all the linens, glasses, flatware, etc for the wedding - I then had a mini stroke when I got the invoice/estimate. It's okay though - we'll make it work and honestly it could be much much worse!

We also went and had my dress fitting (it still fits - and even better than last time) and picked out the bustle style and tried it on with my shoes - good times. Don't worry, a full-fledged wedding post is coming up soon... I know you're on the edge of your seats! ;)

Oliver "loves" Pumpkins...

there are no words to describe what happened earlier this week when Jenny brought some pumpkins over to our house.... well, maybe four words: Oliver fell in love.

enjoy - and please excuse my terrible laugh in the videos.... yes, I'm that big of a dork that is how I really laugh....

yup. we're special.
...may your day be filled with love and pumpkins...
just please don't love your pumpkin like Ollie did!

berkshire fall wedding...

in another life... like one where I didn't elope on new years day - I would have loved to have had a fall or summer wedding... I'm just not a winter person.

However, I do love the symbolism behind starting a new year together and think our (second) wedding will be just perfect for us (just like our first).

That doesn't mean I can't wistfully dream of fall weddings like the one we went to last weekend - our friends Iona and Dan got married on a beautiful berkshire fall day...

beautiful fall foilage in the tent...

adorable centerpieces of fall flowers, squash and vintage votives...

family wedding pictures on the gift table...

where this wino got into trouble...

the alter where they were married... which later was cleared for the dancefloor...

right outside the tent... it doesn't get much prettier than this...

this is one for the books: the bride's cousin did a choreographed hula hoop routine... oh yes, and the hula hoop was on fire....

...and this was taken right before I decided that my phone should have a slumber party at the wedding venue... oh and look, my lazy eye decided to make an appearance... looks just like a ZTA social in college... special.

I wish I had brought my Nikon and gotten more shots - I didn't even get one of the bride and groom?! seriously. who am I? anyways, hope you enjoyed that snippet - don't worry NYC pics are coming soon!
xo.

in a van down by the river...

...okay, maybe not a van - but Oliver and I did take a walk down by the river the other day... it was just so pretty out so we varied from our normal route down "the main drag" and walked down by the Riverwalk by our house... I took some shots and Oliver smelled everything that another dog had ever peed on [aka everything].... here are some of my favs from our walk... enjoy!

 happy leaf peeping!
