dispatch!

Tuesday night DJ and I [in all my strep throat glory] went to see Dispatch at Chastain Park - it was our first time at this venue and we loved it. I can't say enough positive things about seeing Dispatch live, they were unreal - and we had GREAT seats! [not to mention we had a great time peoplewatching... really platform heels to watch a jamband? I know I'm an "old married lady" but I was seriously the only woman there in a baseball hat]

Anyways, I'm happy for DJbecause he finally got to see Dispatch [something he thought would never happen since they broke up for a bit a few years back] and they were on his "must see" list. Honestly, they were AMAZING - if you haven't heard there stuff, run to grooveshark now and listen to it for free, you won't be let down.

Of course, sicky-mcgee-hita didn't bring a camera and both our iPhones died but here are some of our iPhone pics from the show....
   "jigga" completely in his element...

the encores were amazing, but of course both our cameras [phones] were dead and it was so dark we probably couldn't have captured it, but they came out into the audience and jammed out with everyone... words can't even describe how cool it was, it was definitely one of the best concerts I've been too and one of the best encores I've ever seen [if not the best]. the band was so cool too, they were autographing everything, and brad gave two little kids his drumsticks after the show. great, great, show.

here's a video [that I didn't take but found off youtube] of the concert just to give you a glimpse... aahh. goosebumps thinking about it.

happy saturday....
hope you're jamming out wherever you are!

Midsummer Music & Food Festival

on Saturday DJ and I headed down to Candler Park and went to the Midsummer Music & Food Festival to watch two of DJ's faves perform (JJ Grey and Mofro & Robert Randolph) and of course, to eat [ATL Food trucks, YES]...  it started out as a beautiful day, and then of course, it started raining and it turned into a torrential downpour.... cr-a-zy. we got soaked, and the music stopped and we almost went home [of course before the two bands we came to see went on] but then the music started again and the rain stopped so we were troopers and stuck it out...

other than the rain - we had a great day... the concerts were great and we just had such a fun relaxing day/night together... and we met lots of interesting people and had so much fun people watching... I think the getting soaked/staying outside got me a little sick though, my throat has been killing me the past two days, sad!

oh whats that you say? you want to see what I looked like after getting soaked and what my red rainbows did to my feet... sure, why not...

just another day in the life...
and yes, my feet are finally back to normal!

today I don't feel like doing anything... nothing at all...

have you seen the Bruno Mars "The Lazy Day" music video? I know, this isn't 1998 and no one watches MTV or music videos but this one is pretty darn.... "special" [you have to see for yourself].  I can't lie, I really do like it... I was never a huge Bruno Mars fan before, I mean Grenade, really, just not for me. But he really is pretty talented... did you know he wrote Cee Lo's "Forget You" [I'll be clean and not put the other name here]

anyways, back to the song, on days like today I can definitely relate to "The Lazy Day" way too much [other than the whole hand in the pants or P90X part] but seriously, there are a lot of days where I just don't want to do anything... hello sloth day. anyways, check out the video [can't be embedded] - here's a sneak peak of what you have to look forward to when you watch...

yup, I'm in desperate need of a sloth day...
I think this weekend may only consist of pjs and abc family...

in other news, one of my sorority sisters sabrina is a 2011 Atlanta Hawks Cheerleading Finalist! please take a second and vote for her [you can vote as many times as you like] - she really is one of the sweetest and most humble girls I know, not to mention she's an awesome dancer and pretty darn cute!

mashup breakdown... a must.

oh girl talk... how I love you - let me count the ways... no, no... not the girly sleepover talk about boys and makeup (though that is fun too).

this crazy guy... girl talk...

If you haven't downloaded his [free] album yet - go NOW! I promise - there is nothing better in the world to get you through bumper to bumper traffic, roadtrips and to run to...

I've had several friends see him in concert recently and I am VERY VERY jealous - they say it's amazing, I can only dream...

but I do have a fun toy for you to play with if you're a girl talk fan -- mashup breakdown! You can watch the "breakdown" of all the different songs that he samples and when they're played - it's my new favorite webpage... check it out!

be warned, it's addicting!

true story: wedding DJ

backstory: so we're having a live jazz band play for the dinner part of our reception and then a DJ [not my Danny J an actual Disc Jockey, haha] play for the last four hours... this was a compromise for both of us. At first Danny just wanted the jazz band - I wanted fun dance music too though - so now we have best of both worlds including an AWESOME DJ [we saw him at a wedding we went too and we knew instantly - he must be oooours].

anyways, enjoy the following correspondence I had with the DJ company today:

2:24pm:
Hi Annahita,
Yes, I have adjusted your times to read 8:45 to 12:45. Are you almost ready to submit your music request list yet? No rush, as long as it's in by next week so Michael has at least 10 days to review everything.

Best,

Becca

2:26pm:
Hi Becca,
We started last night but Danny and I have VERY different tastes in music so we agreed on two songs, and then just got frustrated and went to bed.

My goal is to have this done by the weekend - there will be lots of wine involved.

Wish us luck! ;)

Annahita

3:14pm:
Hi Annahita,
Hahahahahahahaha! You are one of the first brides to be so brutally honest. I do wish you luck in creating your list. You can also call Michael and have him be part of the process if you like. He is a great resource for music. His cell phone number is 845-000-0000. [I changed the number because I know you want to stalk my DJ]
Godspeed!
Becca

3:30pm:
Thanks Becca!

We'll definitely give him a call - I have faith he can find a great balance between Danny's taste [reggae, latin, jazz] and mine [terrible top 40 pop]. We went to a wedding Michael was the DJ for in October and we both loved the music (that never happens) so I'm not worried. :)
Take care,

Annahita

becca probably thinks I'm on crack.
welcome to my life.

Boston Night 1/Mumford & Sons

Boston was such a great time... here are some pictures of our first night there...

first, we met Greg up at Landsdowne Pub for a beer [or three]....

they had Guinness reps there and were having a "perfect pour" contest - here's mine after DJ stole a sip... they told me to stick around that I was in the TOP 3 [!!!] but we had to go to the contest, alas... I'll never know...

our relationship summed up in two pictures:

oh, my lovie lovie...

outside the venue before the show

MUMFORD & SONS!!

the concert was amazing and I have a new celebrity crush on Country Winston [cuuute] - feel free to watch the encore here. Seriously, it was a great show and it was one of the biggest venues they had played in [HOB Boston] and you could tell they were super excited and still coming to grips with the fact they had "made it" - so fun! More on the trip soon, traveling back to the states from Canada today! See you on the other side of the border....

NeverShoutNever - Trouble

I have recently fallen in love with this song [thank you pandora]
Maybe if I was 12 I'd think this kid was adorable and love him...
but I'm 27 and all I can think is "he needs a haircut"

...haircut or not, this song makes me smile.

you make me dance like a fool...

You make me smile like the sun
Fall out of bed
Sing like a bird
Dizzy in my head
Spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold
Buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Ohh you make me smile

I never listen to the radio but its time to change the CDs in my car and I turned it on and heard this song on the radio yesterday and couldn't help but smile [as cheesy as that is, since that's the name of the song] and think of DJ... I couldn't have explained it better myself... see all the lyrics here... and here's the music video too... just in case you want to listen and sing along. :)

Just when I think it's not possible...
I fall deeper and deeper in love with DJ every day.
life is good in the shire.
happy thursday.
