random wednesday...

hello wednesday. today is flying by and I hope that trend continues into the afternoon... this week has been a great one so far - our friend Brian was coming into town this week for business and he came in a night early to hang out with DJ and I. so we spent last night with him and had a great dinner at bone garden cantina.  It was great to just relax with him and catch up [he recently got engaged, so exciting so we were talking wedding and babies and how crazy life is - just good times all around]. Brian also snapped this picture of our little family last night and it pretty much captured what life is like right now...

poor danny squeezed on the corner of the couch working away on his laptop, I'm stretched out with a growing baby inside of my huge belly, oh yeah - and there's a sixty pound dog sleeping on my face.
that's us. unedited, uncensored. just classic.

the worst part of my day today: I left my iPhone home, I hate that naked feeling without. clearly, I have my work computer, office phone and iPad so I'm not cut off from technology but I still feel strange without it... or maybe that's just the bag of honey bbq frito twists I had for breakfast. oops.

anyways, this past weekend was an eventful one for us when it comes to "project temporary basement nursery" so I'll share all of those finds, "what I'm loving wednesday" style... get excited. hah.

I'm loving.... that we picked up our glider this saturday, I've sat in it every single day and I LOVE it... I just can't wait for the ottoman to get in so I can truly experience all the "gliding" action!

I'm loving... the bookcase that DJ and I fixed up [I'm going to post a DIY post with instructions how, super easy and fun project for the nursery!]. I don't have a picture of the complete finished project yet but here's a sneak peak...

I'm loving... that I also made some "wall art" to hang up in baby J's nursery - hooray for fabric and embroidery hoops! DIY post on these coming soon too! :)

as always, I'm loving my ridiculous but amazing husband...

....and "first-born" love of my life pup...

and with that... happy wednesday.
2.5 workdays til the weekend.

insert creative blog title about my weekend here....

oh what a weekend - hell, what a week... my poor husband has been working like crazy (his second cafe opened on Tuesday) and running on E so I went down to see him at the new cafe on (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and) Friday night with our friends Ben & Ian - we had a great dinner and went to the restaurant next door for drinks. As always, it was so good to catch up with Ben and Ian and just talk, laugh and share. We headed home early as DJ was exhausted (fell asleep on the car ride home).

The next day, Danny worked - I went to crossfit, took Oliver for a walk and hung out with Jenny & Will... The three of us went to have brunch at the Cafe and then went up to Beartown State Forest to look at pretty leaves... of course I didn't have my camera but it was REALLY beautiful! Danny came home later that afternoon and passed out - I tried to nap but ended up just playing sudoku... then we met up with Will & Jenny for gyros for dinner and went to a bonfire. The bonfire was interesting enough, just not for me... cold, smokey, and outside.... enough said. I can't lie it was entertaining watching young girls dance like idiots and make fools of themselves - seriously... get help. Then we went downtown and had a few drinks before heading home...

Then Sunday came around - aka day of my mental break with reality... no, seriously - it was bad. DJ and I got up took the dog for a walk, he got a haircut, I got an attitude. I don't know what it was but I just was having a day where nothing felt right - awesome. we went to our friends Iona and Dan's wedding - which I'll post about later this week... the wedding was beautiful, personal, and just captured the two of them so well! While at the wedding I decided that prohibition was coming back and this would be my last opportunity to drink wine - so I drank WAAAY too much wine. Now I don't know about you guys but waaay too much wine usually results in not great things for this gal... yesterday was no exception - one big fight with my husband and a lost iPhone later... ugh. yuck.

wait? did you read that correctly? no - not the fighting with my husband part, lets be real everyone does that - I LOST MY IPHONE. I have the shakes... okay, that might be from the hangover but also because I really need my phone....

...it has everything - not just the ability to communicate, all my numbers, 500 pictures of Oliver and don't even get me started on wordswithfriends, twitter or facebook... AAHHH. AND I'm definitely not eligible for an upgrade OR rich so this is a problem. I keep calling it and it just keeps ringing. I'm going to go out to where the wedding was (outdoors) later today before I go to the dentist.

Are you kidding me. This is the worst day ever - hangover, can't find my iPhone AND I have to go to the dentist. can I go back to bed now? Okay, I'm off to go sing Daniel Powter lyrics into my coffee.

barf.

Top Two Tuesday

Saw this on The Little Blonde Girl's blog and figured it would be fun and I'd give it a whirl -- so I'm joining The Top Two Tuesday Blog Hop on The Undomestic Momma....

Top 2 Favorite Purchases Made This Year

1. Duh... do you even have to ask? Clearly, Oliver. Our little butterball of love is by far my favorite purchase... I don't think anything is topping him anytime soon!

don't you just want to give him a big ole squeeze? ah. so. cute.

2. This one is a little more difficult..... there are a handful of things that I have throughly enjoyed that I've bought in the past year we moved into a house so there's a bunch of furniture we just purchased, and little things for the house, and I have a huge problem with this little store you may have heard of [sephora... I love you] but I think the one other thing that we purchased that is my favorite purchase is my iPhone. How did I live without one?
attached to my hip. or my hand. or my head.
mmm iPhone, I think I love you....

friend with wordswithfriends

Dear wordswithfriends,

I love you. Thanks for making my workday go by that much quicker.

Love,
asj

I love my iPhone for many reasons... one of the biggest - wordswithfriends... It's addicting, fun, competitive, someone is ALWAYS out there to play with you AND I feel like I'm actually using my brain and getting a mental workout [like with crosswords or sudoku].

In other news... I've been playing with some people who have some really interesting names lately -- "Deeznuts," "Punchmeinthenose," and my personal favorite -- "Shithead00"

I'm also really sad to say... I got beat by "Deeznuts" - something I never thought I'd ever say. Wow.

Clearly, much more creative than me. [First Name+Birthday=Username.... wow, I exherted myself on that one]
