valentine's gift ideas...

so last week I guest-posted over at All in My Twenties about some Valentines DIY gift ideas, as promised - if you're not a DIYer, check out these "run out the store or order online" gift ideas... while I love making gifts, I do also LOVE buying gifts for others and feel that I am a pretty thoughtful, fun gift-giver that loves to check out lots of places for gifts - hope you all get some good ideas from these!

here are some cute fun valentines gift ideas...
"I'm nuts about you" Keyring - $20, uncommongoods: a great way to be mushy without being too over the top, I got this for DJ our first holiday season and it still makes me smile when I see it on his keys [I like to think he likes it too, but maybe he just humors me]

KaPow cufflinks (or other fun cufflinks, found at various shops on etsy) - $25, whitetruffle on etsy

if your beau is a whiskey drinker then maybe some whiskey stones - a distinguished way to serve your drinks on "the rocks," literally - $19.99 (for set of 9), winestuff.com

Map coasters from TheBluePrint (on Etsy) - they have a variety of locations all for $35, these could be fun if you've taken a trip together somewhere or they have coasters for a place that is significant to the "two of you"
(Florida)
(South Carolina)

Jack Black First Class Five Gift Set [great products and a nice travel case] - $49, sephora

a more practical gift rather than lovey-dovey... Code Wallet for iPhone - slim leather case that holds an iPhone and 3-6 cards (available in brown, white and black) - $50, shophex.com

a valentines gift for your special lady... or yourself... adorable bow ring... $35 from muyinmolly on etsy

looking for an easy way to scrapbook all of your favorite moments together, personalize this "ticket stub diary" with tickets from your favorite concerts, movies and sporting events that you've attended together! $10 from uncommongoods.com
roadtrip map poster - if you and your love have taken a roadtrip or have/had a long distance relationship this could be a great personalized gift -- $26 from JanuaryJonesPrints on etsy

if you don't have the will or time to make your own "love coupons" buy some love tokens, set of 10 for $16 from uncommongoods.com

that's all for now - less than a month 'til our favorite red and pink themed hallmark holiday, get to shopping!

birthday boy...

DJ's birthday is rapidly approaching and what does he want for his birthday? well I've asked time and time again and he only wants two things [other than a new laptop] - sunglasses and some brown new balance sneakers... oh yes and we're going to Medieval Times...

I already know what sunglasses he's getting... considering we've already bought them once before.. that's right the polarized rayban wayfarers that got stolen sometime last year at work...
...and he wants brown "new balance sneakers" - now the hunt begins.. here are some of the ones I've found....

what do you think? any winners?
[DJ that includes you]

here's to a brown birthday...

two days left to enter my giveaway, don't forget!

Men of the Wedding

Here's the first of a who knows how long series on the wedding... I've just about gotten over my sickness and blogging hiatus and work is starting to slow down so hopefully I can these out every day or so - so the first part of the wedding recap fun is going to be about how we styled the wonderful handsome men of the wedding.

We decided from the get-go that we wanted the guys to wear converse, two button black suits and a bright colored tie - and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. We gave the guys their ties and bright colored fun socks as their groomsmen gift and they looked super sharp in them!

DJ's blue converse & tie....

DJ's older brother Mike helping him get dressed...

 I know, he's adorable...

"the boys" - oh boy.....

some of the groomsmen showing off their snazzy socks...

don't you just love this shot?

get ready, the girls are next!

man-shopping

I love to shop and have a problem. I'm a shop-a-holic. I currently really don't need too much, however, my adorable husband who still wears clothes from high school [that I remember him wearing mind you] needs a few things here and there so when I dragged him to the mall this weekend we picked up a few things for him!

First, I gave in and we got one of these ---

...it's fitting in nicely in our kitchen and has upped our tea-drinkage which is awesome. It also helps to have nice cold water after a run.... then I read the reviews and got a little nervous...oops maybe we should have researched before we bought!? I'll keep you posted on how our little B&D energystar friend works out... I mean I still think we could have gotten a brita - but marriage is compromise so HOORAY WATER COOLER - welcome home
[love you dj]

also, we got my main squeeze some sweet raybans [polarized so his vision doesn't get worse]

some manshoes... can you believe these are crocs?!
we also got DJ a cute buttondown plaid shirt and super soft lightweight hoodie, which I can't find online to share, but they were from XXI and super super cute...

we're heading to the dirrrrty jerz [fistpump] for a wedding this weekend, maybe we'll be doing a little hita-shopping then. :)

jack blackin'

Dear Sephora,
I love you.
Love,
hita

I love sephora.com - living in the sticks is great minus the shopping, but thank God for the internet... sephora.com has become my best friend since my move to the mountains. My recent amazing purchase -- Jack Black All-Over Wash [for DJ] - it's perfect for my hippie [parabens and sulfate free] and it's an ALL in ONE product - face, body, and hair!

So for my low-maintenace man, it takes great care of him in a simple quick way. I got him a Jack Black Travel Pack for Christmas and he loved it [great gift for any guy in your life] so I decided that this was the way to go for getting him to take better care of himself. He loves the 33 oz size with a pump too because its super convienent and will last for awhile! I also love it because now there's more room for my 100 products in the shower... I'm not buying more shampoo/conditioner/body wash until I use up all that I have now [which should last me awhile!]. 100% recommend, all the way!
