happy 2nd birthday oliver!

tomorrow is our sweet, sweet pup Oliver's birthday - he's going to be TWO! I can't believe it, I feel like it was just yesterday we met him at the breeder and he was all rolly-polly and ran over and sat in our laps... it was meant to be!

in honor of Oliver's 2nd birthday here is a little "flashback friday" all about our sweet ollie...

the first time he climbed the outside stairs into our old house...

friday's fancies... back to school...

back to school time already - can you believe it? I feel like I was just saying "August already?!" and now come Monday classes will start again at the college I work at and August will be flying by... oh Fall, you're back old friend.

I love back to school time. So much fun, excitement, shopping, starting fresh - oh yes, and a wardrobe refresher + new school supplies [this girl here, obsessed with post-it notes].  Fortunately for me, I get my office supplies ordered for me via staples.com... unfortunately for me, I don't get to dreamily wander around Target picking out sharpies, sticky notes and dividers galore.  anyways, tangent over  - you get it, I love a good red stapler.

Back to fashion, or my lack there of... I'm lucky enough to work with relaxed faculty members where it's a good day where pants are worn versus flip flops and khaki shorts [for them, not me] but I do try and dress nice like a grown-up [when I don't hit snooze 100 times].  I can't lie though, I do long for the days where I could roll out of bed throw my hair up in a messy bun [who are we kidding, I still do that] and throw on jeans and a tank, grab a hoodie and make a run for it while putting on lipgloss as I walk to class... so instead of doing a "fancy" fancies today with fun work clothes that I can wear during this back-to-school season as a grown-up, I'm going back to the essentials. casual, comfy, and overpriced. duh.
friday fancies - casual & neutral

1. BDG striped tunic - nice and loose so you can enjoy the froyo at the dining hall
2. wayfarers - classic and timeless [I can't wait until my husband buys me a pair for being awesome, cough cough]
3. beige slouchy cardigan - cozy and comfy for cold classrooms
4. mixed chain multi row - so you have something to play with in class when you get bored
5. rainbows - you know florida girls love them some flippy-floppies
6. nadri crystal bangles - for a little extra jingle jangle
7. chanel le vernis nail polish - neutral and fun
8. dark blue not skinny jean shorts - hey gators, just for you - some jorts!
9. gold wire ball studs - simple and classic

check out everyone else's fancies over at long distance loving...

...and because a post wouldn't be complete without talking about how adorable my husband is and how ridiculous we are, here's a friday flashback for you [whoa, double whammy] from our freshman year of college...  home from college and on NYE after one too many, we decided to rekindle our senior year of high school love as the clock struck twelve... make-out-city: population two. funny to think we got married almost nine years later to the day. there was lots of kissing on that day too. :)
look at those baby faces?!
yup, a decade later... I still love him.
excited for a fun weekend of 5Ks, hiking and relaxing with my lovie!
[I know, I just used 5K and hiking and exciting in the same sentence... what is happening to me]
oh yeah, one last thing....
happy birthday whitney!
[head over to whit's blog and say happy birthday to her!]

flashback friday: just say no to leopard print

Danny and I heading to the Jersey Shore for a wedding.... I think we might just bring this look back...

yes. that's my husband in juniors leopard [cheetah?] print pants circa 2000.
clearly, I've eaten lots of cheeseburgers in the past ten years!
now... time for the dirty jerzzz [FISTPUMP]
I was considering trying to find a top like that to wear but alas... no luck.

flashback friday [oh college freshman...]

move-in at the school I used to work at is tomorrow.... it'll be the first time in ten years that I haven't been working a move-in somewhere on a college campus and you know what I'm really okay with that. As fun as it would be to get up and 6am and troubleshoot and small talk all day I think I'll be okay sleeping in, picking blueberries, and BBQing with our neighbors...

in all honesty, it was always fun to watch the freshman move into the residence halls [dorms] and the friendships begin on that first day and first week... I loved watching my staffs assume their roles and take ownership of it in their own way... it's also funny how quickly life changes... and its funny that ten years ago I was a college freshman... ten years [a DECADE... wtf?!]

clearly I never got caught was a perfect angel my freshman year of college... here are some pictures to prove it...

oh tubetops and pleather pants... you gotta love sharing clothes, I miss having forty closets....

I still often don't look at the camera and love red shoes [just maybe not with socks]

Flashback Friday - "say hello to your friends..."

come on you know you all loved it as much as I did.

I really didn't play with toys... I was an only child so all I did was talk to myself [what? I'm entertaining]and read... and I LOVED The Babysitter's Club... we knew when every book came out and bought it that day. I owned... every single book [I think they're still in the garage in FL]

It was an expensive habit but I was lucky, one of the many things my parents were always great about was that they would buy me books to my hearts content...

I still get happy listening to the theme song. Don't you?

Flashback Friday... Graduation 2000!

A lot of the blogs I enjoy do "Flashback Friday" so I thought it would be great way for me to reflect and share parts of my past which have made me who I am... and how appropriate to start this Friday... this weekend is my 10 year high school reunion! We're not going seeing... it's just too far and not in the budget [and DJ refuses=antisocial].

I still can't believe it... Monday [June 14th] will be the 10 year anniversary of DJ and I graduating high school! It's unreal to think how quickly these ten years have flown by...

DJ and I often talk about high school and the amount we learned and developed during that time. We were both bussed into a school around half an hour from where we lived to be in the International Baccalaureate program at BAHS. I truly feel I was more challenged academically in high school than I was in college [DJ agrees].  The best part was, I was not only challenged by my professors but also my peers. It was really cool [for lack of a better word] to be surrounded by really intelligent people... I'm still shocked and awed by what my high school peers are accomplishing now. So smart. So talented. Just great people.

Senior year was the beginning of DJ and I too... I joke that this month is not only our 5 month anniversary of being married, 6 month anniversary of being together, but really in all reality our 10 year anniversary of falling in love. I think of senior year of high school as our year... I think it was the first time we really saw each other [we had been strictly platonic friends the first three years of high school and didn't give each other a second thought other than as really really good friends].

So here are some pics from our last week of high school --

First, the only picture of our high school graduation that I have scanned... AND I'm wearing stripper shoes [and showing a lot of leg], awesome. Why didn't someone stop me?

And because I know you want a close up of us... here we are... so darling and young --
Just in case you were wondering, as I have previously professed my love for blowouts [see post here] yes I did get my hair blown out for high school graduation... if only it always looked that nice - thank you staff of the Yellow Strawberry.

Here's a pic of us at our IB Senior Photo... sitting on the steps waiting for the pic to be taken of the big  group --
DJ is going through his spiky bleached blond hair 'NSYNC phase here...
and YES those are addidas track pants I'm wearing, so cool.

Lastly, here's a pic of us at our IB senior banquet... if only we knew then what we now know... and if only my arms were still that skinny [never again, I have accepted this]

we're pretty cute if I do say so myself.... crazy to think it's been 10 years since those pictures were taken. good stuff. happy "ten year anniversary" Boyd Anderson Class of 2000!
