so when I was pregnant I decided that Sweet P and Ollie were going to be best friends - and so far, so good!  to say he's smitten with her is an understatement -- he even gives me the stank eye when she's crying like "why aren't you helping her?! what's wrong with you?!" we have even started referring to Penny as "his baby" at times because that's really how he acts. I'm really excited for Penny to get a little older so she can start interacting with him - right now she just kinda looks at him like "what is happening? why is this smushface drooling on me?!" or maybe she just sits there emotionless, hah. either way.

anyways, here are some of my favorite snapshots of the future best friends... enjoy!

Originally we had planned on getting professional maternity photos taken but as the pregnancy progressed [and our budget tightened - it was one of the things that just didn't seem necessary, I am much more invested in newborn photos of Sweet Pea].  So we are lucky enough to be friends with an amazing photographer and one of our favorite people Josh [along with his photo assistant and wife Tiffani] came down and took some pictures of DJ and I [and Sweet Pea and Ollie] before our baby shower...

All of the pictures were great, but I can't lie - I'm definitely just am not a fan of the way I look in pictures right now... I know, vanity - not my friend. I need to get over it.

Anyways, thought I would share a few of our faves....

oh well, fingers crossed he cooperates more once sweet pea arrives...

sick boys...

oh man. I'm not having the wednesday I planned on... I stayed home from work today to take care of my two sick boys - DJ is not feeling well and poor Ollie isn't doing too hot either. One doctors appt and a prescription for Nexium later hopefully DJ will be feeling better soon... $200 at the vet later Ollie seems to be in better spirits too...

....and me? well I had the pleasure of cleaning up loads of poop off the carpet for the past 24 hours (Ollie's not DJ, hah) and feeding Ollie prescription dog food every two hours with a spoon... I guess this is good prep for when sweet pea comes! ha... seriously though.... the Bissell Little Green has become my new best friend...

so that was my wednesday... oh and we got a crapton (yes thats a technical term) of packages - including DJ's 30th birthday present - his new watch! I was a nice wife and gave it to him early....

fun, huh?

So that's that, my craptastic (pun intended) wednesday - now I'm off to the apple store to see why snow leopard won't install on my "vintage MacBook" - maybe ill be coming home with a new computer...??

Guest Post: Babies vs. Dogs

Happy Monday guys and gals...are there are any men folk reading this?  Nikki from Que Sera Sera here guest posting for Annahita and I want to talk about babies and dogs.  Or Twilight and Hunger Games...take your pick.  Okay okay babies and dogs.

Up until Annahita's big news we've had very similar lives.  We both have big rolly polly dogs that are pretty much our children.  I realize that people with actual children don't care for this comparison, but since I don't know what it's like (aside from babysitting) to have an actual baby, this is all I have to compare your trial and tribs to.  Plus...there are a lot of similarities between babies and dogs you can't deny (oh now you're really mad aren't you ;)

1.  They poop all the time

2.  They whine at you when they want something (using your freakin words!)

3.  They require toys, naps and constant attention

4.  They never clean up after themselves

5.  They want to sleep with you and they dig their toes into your back

6.  You can never have nice things

7.  You just wish it would stop raining so they can go play outside

8.  They act up when you have guests

9.  You worry about them when you're apart

10.  Sometimes you wish you'd never had them...but you can't imagine life without them

baby boy...

there's been a lot of talk about baby girl on the blog lately

[sorry non-knocked-up-mom-folk, pregnancy/all-things-baby have taken over my brain]

but I thought I'd share a few pictures of our adorable baby boy...

a few weeks ago I shared that Ollie has been acting out - well he must have known he was starting to make me nervous because he's definitely turned his 'tude around. he's been back to his sweet snuggly self and we started spending "family time" in the nursery with him and he's learned to leave baby j's things alone and just "be" in there and relax.

the other night I laid on the couch for a bit with him and of course he couldn't be on my lap or by my legs, he squeezed  his way up to my face and literally used my head as a pillow. he definitely fell asleep on my head for awhile and then woke up and started kissing me all over my face. such a lovebug!

last night he was laying half on DJ and half on me and I think all three of us were just in heaven. I'm trying to take in these little moments as a family of three and relish them because I know it's going to be different [better, clearly but definitely a little more chaotic when baby j comes around].

so that's that. the current excitement in our lives.

bulldog loving baby...

I've already decided - baby j and Ollie are going to best friends.  

they might not have met each other yet but I have grand visions of all their playtime fun and cuddles... 

I mean, they're already cuddle buddies...

Ollie is pretty good with our niece and nephews... he's really sweet to them and patient when they love on him [aka tug on him].  I'm more worried about the fact that he thinks he's a little pup [when in fact he's going to outweigh baby j for quite awhile] - he's quite the bulldozer and doesn't really understand the concept of "personal space."  all in all, he's a sweet boy and my first born - so I know we can and will make it work. we just need to be aware of watching them together and being careful.

one thing I do know 100% is that I am on the hunt for adorable bulldog clothing for our sweet girl, she's going to proudly rep her bulldog big brother... here are two that we've already found...

happy 2nd birthday oliver!

tomorrow is our sweet, sweet pup Oliver's birthday - he's going to be TWO! I can't believe it, I feel like it was just yesterday we met him at the breeder and he was all rolly-polly and ran over and sat in our laps... it was meant to be!

oliver lately....

Ollie has been feeling a little neglected lately with all these posts on sweet baby j so I figured I'd let you all see what he's been up to lately... 

as you see, a lot of the usual - cuddling, sleeping, causing trouble and just plain lounging.

yup, he's my kind of dog.
