bubbling over.

the packing has BEGUN!

I'm bubbling over with excitement [and anxiety] about our upcoming move - the excitement definitely trumps the worries, but I am just a mix of fun emotions right now!

I'm so excited about being a drive away from friends rather than a plane ride - being closer to my mom, and SUPER close to all of DJ's family. I'm excited about a new job (a tad stressed about the process of getting there, but I know I will). I'm so proud of DJ for following his heart and passion and so excited to watch his dreams become a reality. I've emailed the local ZTA Alum chapters and I can't wait to get involved with those and get reconnected to ZTA. I'm SO excited about being near a Publix again [aka the world's BEST grocery store chain]. I'm excited to clean house and get rid of a lot of clutter and unneed belongings.

It's going to be interesting living with our inlaws for the next year - but I'm so humbled and thankful that they're willing to take us in and help us out.  Get ready, the basement blogger is coming soon to a laptop or desktop near you!  Money is going to be tight for awhile, we have a fair amount saved up but we need to get jobs (at least temporary ones) as soon as we get down there (if anything just for my sanity). I'm not so psyched about living out of storage for the next year and being without my "things" but in reality, it'll be just fine. The job search has been uneventful so far but I was reading my friend Christina's blog today and I saw this quote in one of her older posts...

"The world bursts at the seams with people ready to tell you you're not good enough. On occasion, some may be correct. But do not do their work for them. Seek any job; ask anyone out; pursue any goal. Don't take it personally when they say 'no' - they may not be smart enough to say 'yes.'" - Keith Olbermann

so that's where I am right now, waiting for someone to say yes. I've applied to 47 jobs (and only gotten 6 "no thanks" so far) - and I'm going to keep on applying. I've seen some interesting jobs that I can't wait to share with you - but for now, back to work [only 12 more days here!]

it's official. DJ and I are heading south.

our lease ends at the end of the month and we were debating what to do and we realized that if we're going to move, now is the time to do it. So, we're moving to Georgia! I really do love the berkshires [sometimes] and will miss [some of] the people but we really want to be closer to our family. so we're going to be real close [all of DJ's immediate family now lives in the Atlanta area].  What better time than now? We don't own property, we don't have kids [just a baby bullie].

So, we're packing up a uhaul in 24 days and heading to GA. we're going to get a storage unit and live in his parents basement for awhile [that's right, you read right - I'm that cool, don't be jealous]. In all honesty, I'm excited.  I love his parents, I love free rent, and I'm excited at the idea of new opportunities. I've applied for 27 jobs so far [and only been rejected by 2 - clearly they were idiots]. DJ is going to do graphic design - which he is amazing at, he's going to start up his own firm on the side and work towards getting a job with a firm/company too. I'm so proud of him for following his heart/dreams.

As for me - I don't know what I'm going to do - I'm applying for everything and almost anything; some jobs in higher ed, some in events, some in retail.... at this point, I still just don't know what I want to be when I grow up. Sometimes I'm okay with that, sometimes I'm not - hopefully this job search will help me figure it out.

With that I'm off to scour the internet for jobs and let the creative juices flow on another project that just maybe up my sleeve - get excited!

wedding reception details!

I know, it's just what you wanted - more wedding pictures/details. Don't worry, I'm almost done - I'll do a real post soon... I just have a lot swimming around in this head of mine and I'm trying to get together before I write about it, so for now - more fun pictures of the wedding! I am so happy with how our reception decor/details came together... We knew from the beginning that we wanted it to be bright and fun and I think I just LOVED it all....

When you walked upstairs from the ceremony we had a table with everyone's table assignments, the guestbook, framed pictures of DJ and I, and some fun party favors... we weren't going to do a guestbook but then I saw this post on Perpetually Engaged and decided that Nikki's idea was perfect for DJ and I so I ordered this book from amazon...
 

We decided to do black tableclothes and bright colored napkins on the tables along with those we had black, gold and silver NYE party favors and some silver ornaments and of course - our goldfish centerpieces....

We also decided not to do a head table and to have a sweetheart table, it was nice because we were able to sit down and have our dinner together and have a little bit of time for "us" before we started making our rounds. Once the "dancing" portion of the evening started the table was broken down and moved for more dancing room but I'm glad we were able to sit together for a bit (and eat, duh).

Our Ceremony

Our ceremony was by far one of my favorite parts of the wedding, if not my very favorite... it was just perfect, 100% us - through and through [okay, the turkey painting above the mantle is not very us, but that can be fixed with photoshop and it's pretty funny if you really think about it - I could have covered it/taken it down, I'm just lazy].  Anyways, our ceremony was carefree, fun and relaxed and I felt like it oozed love... here are some of my favorite pictures from the ceremony [there are a lot]...

our readers doing such an amazing job, Craig who was one of my old staff members read the Benediction of the Apaches. Our Friend Stevo then read/spoke in tune of the song an excert of Fool's Rush In (Elvis Song).  Then our last reading was a Taylor Mali poem Falling in Love is Like Owning a Dog which was read by two of my old staff members Chris and Brian - it was hilarious, sweet and just perfect. I'm so happy with the readings that we choose... it couldn't have been more us!

First Look!

DJ and I decided to do a first look for a few reasons, one we wanted to go ahead and get pictures done since we weren't having a cocktail hour (and didn't want to miss out on the fun) and well, we're already married so let's just get the show on the road, right?

It was great, I went with our photographer Sarah a few weeks in advance to scope out picture locations and we decided to do it on the stairs of our B&B - DJ and friends/family were on the bottom of the stairs and I came down the stairs... we only had one photographer and I really wanted to capture DJ's face when he saw me in my dress (the only real surprise in the wedding)... I think it went really well and I didn't fall down the stairs (SUCCESS)!
